In the morning we woke up and I introduced my friend to Cacao... She did not like it, it's a very bitter drink and has a funny texture. I personally love it through and think it tastes amazing, but I think it's because when I first tried it, I was at a cacao ceremony and meditation thing, so it was a good introduction and good environment for it! After I drunk mine, my cacao and my mate chucked hers out, we did a breathwork that I just get off YouTube, it's about five minutes and works so well to ground you and with the cacao... total bliss. Cacao releases dopamine and serotonin so it's just amazing.
After we went to some shops and I spent way too much money on stuff for the van, I wanted to make it a bit more like home so brought some fake flowers to put around the top as I have nowhere to put some real plants, plus let's be real, when your cars sitting in the sun the plants will probably die.
Afterwards me and Aiden left for Ashburton and popped into Kmart to see my mates while they were grabbing somethings for Christmas. It was cool for them to finally meet Aiden, they have seen photos and videos but never meet him in person, even though the meeting wasn't a proper one because you can't catch up much in a shop when you're trying to concentrate. We were there for about an hour following them around then headed to CHCH. We decided to stay at a campground instead of sorting a free DOC site because we didn't want to have to worry after we left our show. The campsite cost us $40 a night for an unpowered ground which is on the expensive side, but it was nice to have a kitchen to cook on and to to have a hot shower for a couple days. We got there and had quick nap before heading to the Frenchy show.
For anyone who doesn't know who he is, he’s an Australian comedian and he's very bogan which we both love. Aidens still a bit bogan but not as much as when we first started dating and I used to apparently be a bit bogan when I was a teenager hahaha. Frenchy is funny as hell, one lady was videoing him right Infront of the security guard and he calls her out, then called out the security guy by saying something like "should we swap places, I'll take your job and you can do mine" and the dude went so red it was funny as, cos the lady was right Infront of him and the joke that Frenchy was saying would not be funny if you missed the whole build up to it. It would most likely have been very offensive to some. Highly recommend going to one of his shows if you're into ruthless comedy.
The next day we decided to stay another night so we paid another $40 so that we could spend the day in town looking for hiking boots and small things that we needed. It was so freaking hot, I don't know if CHCH is always like that or if it is because we were in a city and the buildings and concrete make it hotter but sheeeeit, I was sweating. We finally found some boots and spent way too much of our savings but so worth it. We ended up getting a box of beer cos why not spend more money when you've already spent a lot right... *inserts eye roll emoji* and went for a 'paddle' in the pool at the campground, the water came up to my knees, but it cooled us down. Then literally we just relaxed and read for the last part of the day. There wasn't too much exciting stuff happening these last couple days but that’s the jist of it for you!
I may as well catch you up on the next couple days as well because there wasn't much done either...
In the morning it was raining, and our plan was to drive around the pinnacle (think that’s what the area is called) and explore/go for walks but we didn't want to spend more money on the campground so we decided to head over to mid canterbury and stay at a free DOC site, so we will do that area another time. The DOC site we stayed at was really cool, it's called the Whitecliffs Domain. There is a lot of room to park away from people, heaps of cover and the toilets aren't too bad considering they are long drops plus you can stay there for up to 24 days! So, we drove there and had a nice sleep in till 10am because we didn't have to wake up and be anywhere finally! We spent four days there, the first two we didn't do too much because Aiden wasn't feeling the best so we just chilled. One of the days we did go into Darfeild to do a food shop and explored this forest that had all these fairy houses on the trees and signs for the fairy’s which was really magical. I love anything fairy’s because it reminds me so much of being a kid and my oldest sisters buying us fairy figurines and houses.
That's like four days in one blog but there really wasn't too much to tell so the next one is going to be about our walk at the Rakaia George if you want to follow along!
Thanks so much for reading.
Much love, Kayley
